The Campaign Registry

Mobile Text Alerts is now listed as a participating CSP (communication service provider) with The Campaign Registry.

The Campaign Registry is a hub allowing for the registration of 10-digit long code phone numbers (10DLCs) with wireless carriers.

By registering a 10DLC with The Campaign Registry via Mobile Text Alerts, companies can utilize the advantages of this sending method for their texting campaigns.

What Is a 10DLC?

In the past, many CSPs (communication service providers) such as Mobile Text Alerts sent messages primarily through shared short codes. These codes were 5- or 6-digit phone numbers that had high throughput (messaging speeds), high deliverability, and low cost.

With the phasing out of shared short codes by phone carriers, more companies have turned to other sending options. One of these options is with 10DLCs.

10DLCs are 10-digit numbers that have “regular” area codes, so they look like a “normal” phone number that recipients would typically receive text messages from in their everyday texting.

(This is in contrast to short codes, which are shorter numbers, or toll-free numbers, which have “800” or a similar variant as the first 3 digits.)

Why Register a 10DLC with The Campaign Registry?

For companies wanting to use a 10DLC to send their texting campaigns, pre-registration of that 10DLC is required by the wireless carriers, such as Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T.

This is because the carriers want to ensure that texting campaigns don’t become a source of fraudulent or spam activity. So in order to help keep SMS traffic clean for mobile phone users, carriers require this pre-registration process.

10DLCs also have some advantages over other sending number options, including:

  • Inexpensive cost compared to dedicated short codes
  • More personable sending number compared to text-enabled toll-free numbers (the default sending method for Mobile Text Alerts)

How to Register a 10DLC with The Campaign Registry

As a CSP, Mobile Text Alerts handles 10DLC registration on behalf of its users.

Users interested in sending through a 10DLC can get in touch with support to receive a form.

Once the form is filled out, Mobile Text Alerts will submit the completed form to The Campaign Registry in order to register the number. The process takes less than 1 business day.
