People can quickly scan your SMS QR code with their mobile phone and opt in immediately wherever they are. There are no phone numbers or keywords to remember, no webpages to navigate to, and no spreadsheets to upload when you use this method. Post your QR code on your door, at the jobsite, near the register, or on your web page in order to collect a high number of subscribers.

If you’re just trying to send a text message from your smartphone, you can add people into your contact database from your phone’s “Contacts” app. Just open the app and tap the + icon to create the contact.
If you’re using an iPhone, you can add contacts to an existing group iMessage thread. Just go into the messaging thread and tap where it shows the number of recipients involved in the thread. Tap again on the new screen that again shows the number of recipients, and tap “Add Contact” to add a new contact to the thread.
(Note that adding new contacts to an existing messaging thread only works on threads involving other people who are using iMessage.)
