Maybe SMS marketing is something you’ve considered for your business.

After all, basically everyone texts and everyone reads their texts (up to 55% of text messages are opened and 100% are viewed),

But in an age of convenience, it’s only natural that you want an SMS solution that’s… easy.

EZ Texting is a text messaging platform that claims you can “start and scale your SMS marketing with ease.”

Note that the information in this review is based primarily off of EZ Texting’s public website, social media page, and/or reviews, unless otherwise specified.

EZ Texting features

As an SMS platform, EZ Texting offers a variety of features for SMS marketing purposes.

Evaluation

EZ Texting does not seem to be lacking any vital features that other SMS platforms have.

That being said, the unique features they offer don’t seem to add a significant amount of value, although they may be nice perks.

Reviewers tend to find the features helpful and simple to use—some reviews do mention concerns about some features being behind a paywall.

All in all, it seems that prospective users should not choose or reject EZ Texting based on features alone, as its feature offerings seem overall standard fare for SMS marketing platforms.

How much does EZ Texting cost?

This is an important question for any business trying to evaluate them, but it’s particularly pertinent for small businesses or nonprofits on a budget.

Here’s a breakdown of the pricing.

General info

EZ Texting pricing is subscription-based and you’ll pay either monthly or annually.

Unless you’re on an Enterprise-level plan, your plan comes with 500 messaging credits per month (or 6,000 per year) with a certain rate on extra message credits depending on the level of subscription your purchase. This is a unique pricing structure, as SMS platforms typically offer different subscription levels that give you different allotments of messages.

A “messaging credit” would be 1 message sent to 1 recipient. (For example, if you were to send 1 message to 500 recipients, that would count as 500 messaging credits.)

As with many SMS platforms, if you include an image in your message, it will use up 3 messaging credits per recipient instead of 1.

No additional fees are required besides your regular subscription fee.

Annual discount

As with many SaaS products, and SMS marketing platforms in particular, you can get a discount if you purchase an annual subscription as opposed to a monthly subscription.

For most of the EZ Texting plans, purchasing an annual subscription will give you a 20% discount.

(This annual subscription discount doesn’t necessarily apply to Enterprise-level plans which are most custom-based.)

“Launch” plan

The Launch plan is the lowest level EZ Texting offers.

It costs $25 per month for a monthly subscription or $20 per month for an annual subscription.

This plan gives you 500 monthly messaging credits and access to a $.03 per message rate for additional messaging credits.

It’s recommended for a recipient list of less than 500.

“Boost” plan

The Boost plan is the second tier of service offered.

For a monthly subscription, the cost is $75 per month, and for annual, it’s $60.

This plan gives you 500 monthly messaging credits and a rate of $.025 per message for additional messaging credits, as opposed to the Launch plan’s $.03 rate.

It’s recommended for a recipient list of 500–2,000 contacts.

“Scale” plan

EZ Texting’s third tier of service is the Scale plan.

This plan is $125 per month for a monthly plan and $100 per month for annual.

The Scale plan gives you 500 monthly messaging credits and allows you to purchase additional messaging credits at a rate of $.02 per message.

It also has a bonus perk of offering an onboarding specialist to help you get started.

It’s recommended for a recipient list of 2,000–50,000 contacts.

“Enterprise” plan

If you’re willing to pay at least $3,000 per month, you can get access to an Enterprise plan.

The Enterprise plan gives you 200,000 monthly messaging credits with access to additional messaging credits at a rate of $.01 per message. Plus, you can get an onboarding specialist to help you get started. And you receive a dedicated short code (5-digit) phone number that you can use to send your messages.

Pros and cons of EZ Texting

"Pros and Cons of EZ Texting” illustrating the information below

Now that you have a basic overview of what EZ Texting has to offer, let’s weigh some of the pros and cons.

Pro: ease of use

One of the most prominently mentioned pros of EZ Texting is that it’s… well… easy!

Some of the words people use to describe it include “quick,” “reliable,” “simple,” “user friendly,” “beginner friendly,” and “easy to use.”

All of this seems to vindicate the company’s self-named value proposition—that it’s an easy texting platform

Pro: longevity

Having started in 2005, EZ Texting is one of the older SMS marketing platforms around, with 20 years of longevity at this point.

This means that the platform has a more robust history than many and perhaps more experience. You can feel more confident that the company isn’t something that will just shut down anyday.

Con: expensive

Many people comment about EZ Texting’s expense being high.

While their pricing plans are low, they don’t necessarily reflect the true cost, especially if you aren’t a low-volume sender.

For many users, you’ll end up paying $.02 per message (on the low-cost end), which can add up quickly.

Con: customer support

Another concern some customers have is a lack of quality customer support. One reviewer calls support “non-existent,” despite giving the company an overall positive rating.

Several reviewers make comments about lackluster or difficult-to-reach customer support, although others mention having a positive experience.

Con: nothing to stand out

On the whole, EZ Texting doesn’t particularly offer much that makes it stand out from other platforms.

As an SMS platform, it is similar to others such as ours at Mobile Text Alerts, or SlickText. The pricing structure is unique but this seems to actually be a detriment to many users.

So it can be difficult to pinpoint a reason to choose EZ Texting over other platforms.

      • Whether your messages are SMS or MMS
      • Carrier fees on those messages
      • How many messages you’re receiving
    • Despite Twilio being more complicated, it could end up costing you less—for example, 10,000 messages sent through Twilio could cost $109 + perhaps $10 more if around 1,000 people respond do the message, so $119 total
      • In a similar scenario through EZ Texting, your cost will be $312.50
